Also in this book (I researched this in college) were woodcut prints showing others what they do to non-believers. Things like a birthmarks, birth defects, beautiful women, practicioners of herbs, midwives, the elderly...were all subject to these tortures and inquisitions. Entire villages were wiped out during this time. I read some 9.2 million people were murdered for witchcraft over the history of Christianity. I also read, 80 percent were women/girls. ReplyDeleteAnother thing about these witch hunts; the witch hunters, the judges, the torturers, etc. were all paid from the proceeds taken from the accused.
